Abuse

God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them; Genesis 1:27". We were created for each other "God said, it is not good that man should be along; Genesis 2:18". But how did she end up here? Never thought it would happen to her. At the age of 17, she found herself in an unhealthy relationship, swept off her feet by the words and kind treatment of someone she thought cared for her. Young and naive, out on her own, she didn’t deserve to be treated in this manner, beaten almost every day.

So many women find themselves in situations where they are being abused by their lovers whether physical or verbal, abuse is happening. Is it love? Most think it is. Even though they are being tormented, battered, abused and mistreated they choose to stay. Excuses are being made for their abuser (he didn't mean it, I caused him to become angry or he had a bad day at work, he said it would not happen again). Then the apology "baby I don't know what came over me" and the makeup takes place; a nice dinner, roses or flowers or perhaps a nice gift or getaway for the weekend and next week it happens again. Why do they subject themselves to this kind of treatment? Are they allowing fear to cause them to stay? Are they fearful of losing what they have accumulated together? Is it the fear of someone finding out how they are being treated? She found herself jumping from the moving vehicle to avoid another black eye; taking whatever he puts out, smiling to hide her tears and trying not to flinch when he comes near her. How long will she hide behind the dark shades and makeup?

She got out but later on found herself in a similar situation; however, she was aware of the signs, the first push was all it took and her mind reflected back to the years of abuse she suffered and she would not allow herself to go through that again. She prayed to God to give her a way out.
